Typhoon Lagoon Water Park

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is one of two exciting water parks at Walt Disney World Resort and home to the world’s largest outdoor wave pool. The park is divided into several distinct areas: Mt. Mayday, Hideaway Bay, Typhoon Lagoon, Shark Reef, and Castaway & Ketchakiddee Creeks.

The centerpiece of the park is Mount Mayday, which houses many of the park’s larger slides and waterfalls. Located on Mount Mayday is the abandoned shrimp boat “Miss Tilly,” which erupts with a 50-foot-tall geyser every half hour. The park is designed on the theme of a storm-ravaged island, and Miss Tilley landed on the mountain after being tossed around in the storm.

Typhoon Lagoon has something for everyone. Thrill-seeking guests might like to swim with the sharks at Shark Reef or plunge down Crush n Gusher, Humunga Cowbunga, and Mayday Falls. Guests of all ages will love the lazy-river themed ride, Castaway Creek, which takes you through waterfalls, mist screens, and rainforests. Several of the rides allow for two-, three-, and even four-person rafts. Little kids have their own space as well—Ketchakiddee Creek has kid-sized slides and fountains along with a sandy beach.

Speaking of sandy beaches, Sandy White Beach at Typhoon Lagoon is a large area with beach chairs, hammocks, umbrellas, and views of the surf area. There are plenty of places to grab a yummy bite to eat, and there are two picnic areas within the park. Unlike many water parks, Typhoon Lagoon allows you to bring your own food into the park. Life vests are offered free of charge and inner tube usage is included in your entry fee.
