Timbuktu | Busch Gardens
Timbuktu is an area of Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida. It is inspired by the exotic malls and bazaars of Africa. It is home to the Timbuktu Theater, which is an indoor 4-D movie theater. Several popular rides are located in the Timbuktu area and include:
• The Phoenix: a looping ride inspired by Egyptian cargo vessels
• Scorpion: a sit-down roller coaster featuring a vertical loop, reaching speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. You only have to be 42” to ride this one
• Sand Serpent: a steel “wild mouse” roller coaster. Wild mouse roller coasters are characterized by smaller cars that ride on top of the track taking tight, flat turns. This is a roller coaster that practically whole family can enjoy—riders must be at least 46 inches tall and a minimum of 6 years old.
• Sandstorm: a three-armed, spinning orbiter ride.
• Caravan Carousel: A majestic carousel with camels, chariots, and horses
The shows at the Timbuktu Theater are “Sesame Street Film Festival 4-D” and “Pirates 4-D.” 4-D takes 3-D one step further by featuring physical effects in the theater synchronized with the film.
Retail and dining opportunities are also available in Timbuktu, including the Desert Grill.
