Qumran Caves | Holy Land Experience
Holy Land Experience theme park is home to several exhibits that are modeled after some of the most important and holy areas as described in the Bible. Not only is the Bible a religious text, it is also a historical document, and by studying the Bible, we can learn a lot about the way people lived 2,000 years ago.
One of those historical exhibits is the Qumran Caves, where a boy found the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947. Historians believe these caves may have been home to a Jewish sect known as the Essenes. The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of 972 texts from the Hebrew Bible, and they are considered to be of important religious and historical significance. The actual Qumran Caves in the West Bank is an important archeological site of many amazing discoveries.
Within the Qumran Caves at Holy Land Experience, visitors can actually partake in the Last Supper Communion with Jesus and his disciples. For many Christians, partaking in Holy Communion is an important is an important expression of their faith, and being able to take Communion in such inspirational surroundings is indeed a soul-stirring experience.
Also located near the Qumran Caves at Holy Land Experience are three other important Biblical replicas:
o The Tiny Town of Bethlehem, which is the town where Jesus was born
o Birth Place of Jesus, which depicts the actual location where Jesus was born
o Whipping Post, which is a somber depiction of the place where Pontius Pilate had Jesus scourged by the Roman soldiers.
You do not need to be a religious or even a Christian to appreciate the historical significance and interest of these interesting and educational exhibits at Holy Land Experience.
