Purple Slope | Disney's Blizzard Beach

The Purple Slope water rides at Disney’s Blizzard Beach each boast nearly identical tracks, which makes it perfect for racing. Guests who are really looking for an adrenaline-fueled wild ride will find it on the Purple Slope of Mt. Gushmore. The rides on the Purple slope include:

• Downhill Double Dipper: This is one of only a few side-by-side water racing slides in the world. The slides are 50 feet high and 230 feet long and can get riders going as fast as 25 miles per hour. The attraction is modeled after a downhill ski race, except instead of bombing down the snow-covered slopes on skis, riders bomb down a water-filled slide on inner tubes. As a matter of fact, each downhill “heat” is clocked off just like those ski races your see in the Olympics, and there are even gates to hold back riders until the race starts.

• Toboggan Racers is a mat slide that sends riders over stomach-dropping dips as they lay on their stomach just like a toboggan race in the snow. This water slide is eight lanes and 250 feet long.

• Snow Stormers is next to Toboggan Racers and it’s also a mat slide. There are three flumes on this ride, each 350 feet long. Like a giant slalom course on a ski course, this is a switchback course with gates. Riders hurtle down the ride on their bellies as they do on Toboggan Racers.
