Morocco & Bird Gardens | Main Entrance | Busch Gardens
While Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida started out as a hospitality center for the Anheuser-Busch brewery in Tampa, it is now a 335-acre African-themed amusement park. From the moment guests come through the main entrance of Busch Garden, they feel as if they’ve stepped into an exotic new world. The Mystic Sheiks of Morocco, a brass and percussion musical group, can often be found playing music in this Moroccan-themed area. This area is home to a 1,200-seat theater named the Moroccan Palace, and there’s an outdoor theater called Marrakesh Theater. This are is also where guests looking for some fast-paced excitement will find Gwazi, the dueling wooden roller coaster which incorporates 7,016 feet of track and can go up to 50 miles per hour. The highest drop is a little over 90 feet and the ride lasts for about two and a half minutes. One of the dueling roller coasters is referred to as Lion, while the other is referred to as Tiger—the ride is actually named for the mythological creature with the body of a lion and the head of a tiger. It is the largest and fastest wooden duel roller coaster in the Southeastern United States. Another ride, Gwazi Gliders, is a small hang glider ride located in the Moroccan area of Busch Gardens.
Also located at the entrance of Busch Gardens is Bird Gardens, the original area of the park dating back to 1959. This area features gardens, animal exhibits, and shows. You’ll also find Sesame Street Safari of Fun for the very youngest Busch Gardens guests. The attractions at the Sesame Street Safari of Fun include Telly’s Jungle Jam, Rosita’s Djembe Fly-Away, Bert & Ernie’s Watering Hole, and Air Grover, which is a children’s roller coaster.
