Hideaway Bay | Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Typhoon Lagoon, Hideaway Bay is a sandy beach area. Once called Out of the Way Cay, its slightly out-of-the-way location belies the fact that it is home to the newest and one of the most exciting attraction at Typhoon Lagoon, the Crush ‘n’ Gusher.
The theme of Crush ‘n’ Gusher (because you know every Disney attraction must have a theme) is an abandoned tropical fruit processing center. In keeping with the theme, there are three fruit-themed slides: the Banana Blaster, the Coconut Crusher, and the Pineapple Plunger. Each of the three waterslides will have you defying gravity because not only are you propelled downwards by gushing jets of water, you’re actually propelled upwards as well. Keep in mind there are no motors involved in making this happen. It’s just you and up to two of your friends on a triple inner tube, flying through 400 feet of hairpin turns, sudden drops, and uphill climbs before you plunge into Hideaway bay. The Coconut Crusher and Pineapple Plunger will accommodate the three-rider raft, while the Banana Blaster accommodates a two-person raft.
When you’ve had enough of the exciting Crush ‘n’ Gusher, you’ll probably want to hang around Hideaway Bay for a while simply for the lovely white-sand beach. Here you’ll find plentiful lounge chairs and a wading pool area as well.
