Explorer's Aviary and Wind-away River | Discovery Cove
Explorer’s Aviary is a free-flight aviary at Discovery Cove theme park in Orlando. It contains over 250 tropical birds including toucans, parrots, golden conures, sun conures, and just about every sort of exotic bird you could ever imagine. There are over 30 species of birds represented in the aviary at Discovery Cove. The birds are housed in a natural habitat, with the freedom to fly and sign to their heart’s content. As if that weren’t enough to make you feel like you’ve entered an exotic rain forest, there’s also the heated Wind-away River, a tropical lazy river, that flows right through the middle of the aviary. Not only can you venture into the aviary by land, but you can also enjoy a relaxing float through the aviary as well. Wind-away River also winds past the sandy beaches, dense rain forests, cascading waterfalls, and even an underwater cave at Discovery Cove.
Since admission to Discovery Cove is capped at 1,000 guests a day, you’ll never feel overcrowded in the Wind-away River like you may at some crowded water parks that have lazy rivers. The lack of crowds and abundance of wildlife will really make you feel like you’ve landed in your own private oasis at Discovery Cove theme park in Orlando. There are few theme parks that will enable you to feel more relaxed when you leave than when you arrive, but Discovery Cove is definitely one of them.
