Camp Minnie-Mickey--Disney's Animal Kingdom

While it’s true that Disney’s Animal Kingdom is dedicated to the preservation and protection of animals and the appreciation of nature, let’s face it: most people come to Orlando in part for the Disney experience. Visitors to Animal Kingdom won’t be inundated with Minnie, Mickey, and the gang, but there’s a place in the park where guests can go to see Mickey and Minnie in surroundings that complement the natural beauty of Animal Kingdom.

Camp Minnie-Mickey is an area within the park replete with an evergreen forest and river, based on a rustic camp in the Adirondacks. Guests of all ages can travel the Greeting Trails at the Camp where they can meet and pose for photos with some of their favorite Disney characters. Each trail leads to one of the characters, which vary from day-to-day and include Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Winnie the Pooh, Pocahontas, Timon, and Baloo. Of course these characters will be decked out in costumes in keeping with the safari/nature theme of Animal Kingdom.

Several entertainment options are available at Camp Minnie-Mickey. The Festival of the Lion King is onstage in the main area of the Camp. This show is based on the Disney film “Lion King” and features musical performances, dancing, and acrobatics. Guests can also see a show based on Pocahontas and her friends. Plenty of sweet treats are available at Camp Minnie-Mickey at the Chip n’ Dale Cookie Cabin and Forest Trail Funnel Cakes.
