Adventureland--Disney's Magic Kingdom

If you’re looking for a swashbuckling adventure, or perhaps a cruise down an unpredictable African river, Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland is your kind of place. Adventureland is dividing into two areas: Arabian Village and Caribbean Plaza. There’s also a bit of South Pacific flair thrown in for good measure, lending Adventureland the aura of a pre-World War II adventure/romance flick ala “Casablanca,” “African Queen,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” and more. It’s a little bit jungle, a little bit desert, and a little bit tiki.

Adventureland is home to the wildly popular dark ride Pirates of the Caribbean and the equally popular outdoor ride Jungle Cruise. Guests will also find attractions such as Swiss Family Treehouse, The Enchanted Tiki Room, and the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. Everywhere you look in Adventureland, you’ll find exotic touches such as totem poles, conga drums, animal statues, pith helmets, tribal masks, and lush tropical jungle vegetation.

Hungry adventurers won’t be disappointed with the dining opportunities available in Adventureland, including Aloha Isle, Tortuga Tavern, and Sunshine Tree Terrace. If you’re looking for Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise, whether from the theme park attraction or the films, Adventureland offers a mother lode of Pirate booty at Pirate’s Bazaar. Other shopping opportunities include Agrabah Bazaar and Island Supply.

When explaining how the idea of Adventureland came about, Walt Disney explained. “…we pictured ourselves far from civilization, in the remote jungles of Asia and Africa." In Adventureland, guests are transported to far away and exotic lands.
